“Steel Magnolias” at Chelsea’s Purple Rose Theater Through March 14
If you’re a fan of the 1989 movie Steel Magnolias, you won’t want to miss the stage version, now playing at The Purple Rose Theater in Chelsea, MI through March 14th.
“Steel Magnolias” is the uplifting and moving story of six tight-knit women from Louisiana who frequently get together in Truvy’s beauty salon. Over the course of three years, the women experience a great deal of heartbreak and personal growth and cope with it all through humor and support from each other.
Even if you’ve seen the movie Steel Magnolias before, seeing it performed on stage is a very different experience than watching it at home on television. Patty Nolan of Examiner.com highly recommends the show and says, “…you will discover for yourself why this compelling story is even more powerful when it is performed live in an intimate setting.”
The Purple Rose Theater was founded in 1991 by actor Jeff Daniels and is named after Daniels’ 1985 movie The Purple Rose of Cairo. The theater is celebrated for the high quality of its productions. In addition to producing classic plays, The Purple Rose Theater also frequently produces original material written by local playwrights. The Purple Rose Theater also has a reputation for its small, intimate atmosphere in which no seat is more than 20 feet away from the stage.
