Manufacture Home Decorating
You just purchased your new mobile home. As you think of decorating ideas, you look around and happen to notice some of the challenges you might be working with, paneled walls, low ceilings, and vinyl wallpaper. Here are a few ideas for each room of your new home to think about:
The strips of vertical molding on the walls covering the gaps between the wall panels reminds visitors that they’re in a manufactured home. You can address these issues in a number of ways. You can remove the strips, apply joint compound, texture the entire wall with paint, or you can simply choose a darker paint color.
Your kitchen probably has the same challenges as other homes around the country. If you want to soften the look of the cupboards, remove the door below the sink and add fabric of your choice on a rod. Or, try cutting out the interior of the upper cupboard doors and replace them with glass or fabric. Look in your local home improvement store for light fixtures that will update your kitchen. Re-stain or paint your cabinets, or have them refinished for the look of a new kitchen. For a simple update, change out the knobs on your cabinets.
Bathrooms in general can be small. But there are things you can do to create the illusion of space. Paint the room a soothing color and coordinate towels and your shower curtain. Keep the bathroom clutter free, and store anything you’re not using out of sight. Use window coverings that allow light in while providing privacy.
One thing to keep in mind in a mobile home is scale. Choose bedroom furniture that doesn’t overwhelm the room and allows a clear path for traffic. Lower furniture will give the room the illusion of height. To free up additional space, weed out items you don’t use anymore. Or utilize storage space under your bed for items you just can’t part with yet. Also, choose bedroom décor that blends with the rest of your home.
