Making the Holiday Season Merrier in Holly

When you live in HomeFirst™’s Springrove community, you’ll be living in Davisburg, MI, which is about a 10 minute drive away from beautiful Holly, Michigan. Holly is an absolutely ideal city to live so close to. Not only is it a beautiful city with lots of historic, small town charm, good schools, and a safe neighborhood, there are plenty of interesting stores, good restaurants, and fun events happening around town and the holiday season is no exception.

Once the Christmas season rolls around, Holly likes to pull out all the stops to put on some amazing events. If you want to live in the kind of place where you’ll be able to start some new annual holiday traditions with your family, Springrove is the place to be!

One of the things the city of Holly is most famous for is their annual Holly Dickens Festival. The Holly Dickens Festival is the longest running Charles Dickens-themed event in the United States; it’s been a tradition in Holly for over 40 years. For a few weekends every holiday season, the city of Holly is transported back to the 1800s with costumed carolers in the street, carriage rides, old fashioned fun and games, readings of Dickens’s works, live music, and much more.

The Holly Dickens festival is the kind of event that has something to appeal to people of all ages. There are always lots of games, arts and crafts, and other activities happening that are lots of fun for kids to do. For the adults, there’s a beer tent, dance lessons, shopping in downtown Holly, and even the chance to have your wedding vows renewed.

Before the festival officially begins, Holly traditionally kicks off the holiday season with a lighted parade and a tree lighting ceremony with Santa Claus in attendance. It’s a lovely way for the whole family to come out and get into the holiday spirit.

Can’t resist the thought of lacing up your shoes and going for a nice run or walk? During this time of year, Holly also has their annual Run Like the Dickens race. Entrants are able to compete in either a 10K run, a 5K run, or a 5K walk. There’s also the Tiny Tim Trot, which is open to kids.
