How to Make the Most of Your Backyard

There are many benefits of living in a HomeFirstTM Certified Community instead of an apartment complex. One of the best advantages is having your own backyard. When you have an outdoor living space, the possibilities are endless. From lounging to entertaining, here are some of the coolest ways to enjoy your backyard.

Mini Pools

As the calendar creeps through July, the temperatures are going to continue to climb. One of the easiest ways to stay cool is by getting a mini pool in your backyard. You can pick up a kiddie pool for as low as $10 at your local retailer. These are especially fun for kids and dogs! While the pool in your community is also a great option, sometimes it’s fun to mix it up.

Gardening can be a very relaxing and therapeutic activity. From planting flowers to harvesting vegetables, there’s something very rewarding about seeing your hard work come into fruition. If you’re new to gardening, there are plenty of resources online that can help you out. Here’s one that we recommend.

Go Camping

Sometimes, the best camping is right in your backyard. Next time you feel like having a mini-adventure with your family, just pitch a tent in your backyard. You can start a bonfire, roast marsh mellows, tell stories and gaze off into the starry sky. What better way to enjoy beautiful weather and your own outdoor space?

Build a Play Set

The perfect project for parents, building a play set is not only fun, but also very practical. Play set kits make assembly easy even if you’re not the handiest person in the world. Your kids will love playing on the swings and going down the slide, giving them another reason to be active.

Create the Game ‘Twister’

The game ‘Twister” is commonly thought of as an indoor game. But now, you can twist, stretch and hold your balance outside with this fun version of the game. Get a few bottles of washable spray paint (different colors) and squirt dots in your lawn to recreate the game board. It’s a fun game for kids, and even adventurous adults!
