Carpet in Your HomeFirst™ Home
Moving into your first manufactured home can raise anxiety between you and your family as it is a big life change. And when you first move into a new home, you want to keep it looking nice as long as you can. Blot Don’t Rub
Any stain, whether it’s a dirt, wine, food or grass, can be taken out with different chemicals, but it’s important that when you’re going through the process of taking out the stain that you don’t rub vigorously as you might want to. Instead of rubbing, it’s important to blot the stain with light pressure using a towel, paper towel or a sponge. If you press down too hard you can actually cause the stain to expand, and then it will become more of a problem than it initially was. Blotting causes the stain to be soaked up where rubbing only works when you want something to be wiped away which clearly isn’t going to work on carpet.
Don’t Have Carpet Cleaner?
There are countless carpet cleaners out there, whether it’s a bottle of cleaner you can find in any convenience, hardware, or grocery store or a more heavy duty shampooing machine. All of them have their benefits, but one thing they all have in common is that they all involve a trip to the store. If you don’t have a bottle of carpet cleaner on hand, you might not have time to go to the store and get some and renting a carpet shampooer can be expensive and involve a lot of work. Luckily, lots of inexpensive household products can do the trick! One of the cheapest substitutes for carpet cleaner is club soda, especially for beer or wine stains. If you use it correctly, the stain will come right out with only a dollar or so coming out of your wallet. Another quirky alternate for carpet cleaner is shaving cream. When you use shaving cream, let it sit on the stain for 30 minutes then blot it with a dry towel. Shaving cream will generally work on any type of stain on your carpet, and if you don’t already have a can of it sitting around your house, it usually costs a few dollars at your local convenience store.
When you first see a stain on the carpet in your home in a HomeFirst™ community, it can be stressful thinking about how you’re going to get it out. Now knowing that you won’t have to spend 100 dollars the next time your child spills their juice or food on the carpet should make you feel less upset.
