Great Apple Orchards in Michigan

Fall just wouldn’t be complete without apples! If you’re a big apple lover, why not take a trip out to an apple orchard to pick some apples of your own? Michigan is home to some wonderful apple orchards that would be a perfect setting for a memorable family outing. Here are just a few located in located right here in southeast Michigan:

Blake Farms

Named the best apple orchard in Michigan by AAA, Blake Farms was one of the first “you pick” apple orchards in the state and it continues to be one of the most popular. Their Fall Festival runs from September through October and offers plenty to keep families busy. You can pick your own apples or pumpkins, try your hand at the corn maze, visit some animals, or enjoy some cider and donuts. Although Blake Farms is a popular destination during the Fall months, you can also come cut down a Christmas tree in December or pick strawberries, cherries, and raspberries and peaches in the summer months.

Stony Creek Orchard

Come on out and pick some apples and have a cup of cider. Admission to Stony Creek Orchard is free! During the month of October, you can come by at night for a moonlit hayride. Although their salesroom is open daily (10:00 AM-6:00 PM Monday-Friday and 9:00 AM-6:00 PM Saturday and Sunday), you are only able to pick your own apples on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

Hy’s Cider Mill

Hy’s Cider Mill is open every weekend from September 6th through November 2nd from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Visit throughout the Fall for the chance to pick apples from a wide assortment of crops that become ripe throughout the season.

Erwin Orchards

Erwin Orchards has been a South Lyon fixture since 1920. Open from August 22nd through November 2nd. Erwin Orchards grows Northern Spy, Golden Delcious, Fiji, Ida Red, Empire McIntosh, Cortland, and Gala apples. Since apples ripen at different times throughout the season, it’s best to consult their website to make sure the apples you’re interested in available. While you’re there, stop by the cider mill for some cider and donuts or visit the corn maze.

Westview Orchards

Westview Orchards is so much more than just apple picking! From obstacle courses and petting zoos to a children’s maze and a rope mountain to climb, there’s no shortage of things to keep the kids busy! Westview is open daily from Labor Day through early November.

Miller’s Big Red Farm

Miller’s Big Red Farm is another great destination for family fun this fall. Pick some apples, enjoy the bounce house (open on weekends only), take a hayride, climb straw mountain, or take a trip through the corn maze! Miller’s grows Empire, Gala, and Johnny Mac apples. If you’re near Holly, this apple orchard is a must-see. You can visit on Mondays through Thursdays from 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM or Fridays through Sundays from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
