Finding the Path to Success at New Haven Community Schools

When you have young kids, one of the most important things you need to look for when searching for a new home is whether or not it’s near good schools. If you live in our Meadow Creek or Riverbrook community, both located in New Haven MI, your kids will be able to go to school in the New Haven Community School District. Being a student in New Haven Community Schools means you’ll get the chance to participate in some truly unique programs you just won’t find at any other schools in the area.

New Haven Community Schools has some excellent leaders working there. In 2014, New Haven High School principal Will Timmerman, along with two other officials from New Haven Community Schools, were recognized by the Michigan Association of School Administrators for the “Supportive Tuesdays” program they started at New Haven High School. With the “Supportive Tuesdays,” students who need some extra help with their classes have a chance to be tutored by fellow students. Students who don’t need any extra tutoring, and aren’t tutoring other students,  participate in various clubs and classes like cooking, chess, dance, Spirit Crew, Auto Club, just to name a few, during this time.

If you want your kids to learn about the importance of being environmentally friendly, New Haven Community Schools are an excellent place to be. In 2014, New Haven Community Schools were also recognized by the Detroit Free Press as a Michigan Green Leader in the public sector. New Haven Community Schools are very mindful of looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint and set a good example for their students. The schools use solar-powered sprinkler systems, power generated by wind turbines, avoid using water and electricity unnecessarily, and use busses that run on propane and biodiesel made by students in the high school’s auto shop class. The schools also have cafeterias equipped with recycling bins and they don’t use styrofoam trays in the cafeterias.

Is your child a budding musician? New Haven Community Schools have a nationally-celebrated music program. New Haven’s music program had been cut due to budgetary constraints several years ago, but it was brought back in 2011 thanks to support from the community. Just three years later, New Haven was recognized by the National Association of Music Merchants for their outstanding music program.
