Potter Park Zoo
Potter Park Zoo has been one of Lansing’s top family destinations since 1915! Covering over 10 acres, the Potter Park Zoo gives people the chance to see animals like penguins, tigers, snow leopards, black rhinoceros, various types of birds, amphibians, and reptiles, and more up close. The Potter Park Zoo is open year round and they have lots of fun activities scheduled throughout the year like their Boo at the Zoo days in October, the Wonderland of Lights event during the holiday season, and special educational events throughout the year. Best of all,
Impression 5 Center
If you want to give your kids the chance to start learning about science at a young age, the Impression 5 Center in Lansing is the place to be! The Impression 5 Center is full of hands-on, interactive exhibits that let children learn about scientific concepts and explore them at their own pace. Many of their exhibits change throughout the year, so there will always be something new to see and explore there. During the summer months, they have day camps where kids can learn even more about science.
Independence Commons is also just a short drive away from Holt, Michigan, home to Burchfield Park. Burchfield Park is the largest park in Ingham county, covering over 500 acres right along the Grand River. During the summer months, Burchfield Park is a great place to spend a day having fun on the beach, catching fish in the fishing pond, hiking, boating, playing disc golf, and more! Or during the winter, you can come visit for some ice skating or sledding! They even have a warming lodge where you can stop in to warm up!
In addition to all of these fun things in the area, you’ll have even more great things to do right in your own backyard! Independence Commons has its own swimming pool and playground, so there are lots of ways to have fun with the kids without even having to leave the community! We also regularly host community events like holiday parties, potluck dinners, and ice cream socials so kids will have plenty of ways to make friends with the other kids in the community.
