Enjoying the Many Festivals of Plymouth
Nobody really wants to live someplace where there’s nothing to do. You want to live someplace that’s full of great places to visit, things to do, and events to go to. If you’re looking for a new place to live, you’ve made a good choice by coming to HomeFirst™! All of our manufactured home communities are located in or near some of the most exciting areas in Michigan, so no matter which of our communities you’re interested in, there are lots of ways to relax and have fun with your friends and family.
If you love going to festivals and other community events, you might want to consider checking out our Plymouth Hills community. Located in Plymouth Township, Plymouth Hills is an excellent and affordable place to live near downtown Plymouth. Not only is downtown Plymouth full of great shopping, restaurants, and other interesting places to visit, but there are tons of events that go on all year long. In fact, February is the only month of the year that doesn’t have a big festival or event happening in Plymouth!
Every January, Plymouth hosts their annual Ice Festival, which is the oldest and largest ice carving event in the United States. Once March rolls around, it’s time to lace up your running shoes for the annual Kona Shamrock Run. The Kona Shamrock Run is a run/walk that starts and ends by Kellogg Park. Participants have their choice of participating in 10K, 5K, and mile distance events and are encouraged to come up with some creative costumes to wear during the race. Prizes are also available for best costumes, so even if you don’t win a prize in the race, there’s the chance you could take home a prize for your costume!
Once the weather starts getting warmer, there are some great ways to get out and explore the downtown area, like the annual Showcase and Taste of Plymouth, which is a perfect way to find out more about local businesses and sample some food made by restaurants and caterers in the neighborhood. In May, there’s also their annual Memorial Day parade, the Music in the Air concert series, and farmers markets that run from May through October.
Summertime is very busy in Plymouth! In June, there’s the annual Ghosts of Plymouth Walk, which is a fun way to learn about Plymouth. Art in the Park is a huge hit every July, giving over 400 independent artists from all over the United States a chance to showcase and sell their work. Of course, there’s also a great 4th of July parade to look forward to every year. All you foodie types will love the fantastic restaurant crawl that happens in Old Village Plymouth every August.
By the time the leaves start changing colors, Plymouth only gets more active with the annual Fall Festival, Scarecrows in the Park, Ladies Night Out, Pumpkin Palooza, PennTasteTic Downtown Restaurant Crawl and cemetery walk events! And Plymouth is an absolutely delightful place to be during the holiday season with their Christmas in Plymouth event and the Walk of Trees.
