Best Concert Venues in Michigan

If you’re looking to make the most of a splendid summer weekend, consider seeing a concert! Michigan has a terrific variety of concert venues throughout the state, many of which have lawn seating so you can take advantage of warm weather. Here are some of the best concert venues in Southeast Michigan near your HomeFirstTM Certified Community.

DTE Music Energy Theatre: Located near the Springrove Manufactured Community in Clarkston, DTE Energy Music Theatre is one of the most popular amphitheaters in the country. Named the nation’s most attended amphitheater by Amusement Business/Billboard for 21 years, DTE’s season opens each Memorial Day weekend with classic rocker Eddie Money and concludes in September or October.

Freedom Hill Amphitheatre: Located in Sterling Heights, Freedom Hill Amphitheatre has many of the same characteristics of DTE Music Energy Theatre. The only main difference is the venue is slightly smaller. There’s lawn seating (sometimes for as cheap as $10/ticket) and a concourse with delicious concessions.

Royal Oak Music Theatre: Located in the city’s vibrant downtown area, Royal Oak Music Theatre is one of Detroit’s finest suburban theatres. This intimate indoor theatre has seen a long list of unforgettable performances, including The White Stripes, *NSYNC, Billy Crystal, Robin Williams, Duran Duran, George Clinton & The Parliament Funkadelic, Hank Williams Jr., Iggy Pop, Run D.M.C., and more!

St. Andrews Music Theatre: A small, intimate music hall in Detroit, St. Andrews Music Theatre is a great place to watch a concert, especially of the rock variety! Just a warning: it gets pretty loud in there, so this might not be the best venue to take your kids. But for a night out with your friends or significant other, St. Andrews is hard to beat!

Ford Field: Also home of the Detroit Lions, Ford Field is a great place to watch your favorite band. There are concerts there throughout the year, like the ever-popular Kenny Chesney concert in August. Across the street is Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers and another tremndous concert venue. Both venues are not only great places to watch your favorite concert, but also to eat and have a drink.
