Amazing Educational Opportunities at New Haven High School
Every parent wants their kids to have the best things they can possibly have in life. While not every parent is able to send their kids to school in designer clothes or buy them a Ferrari for their first car, making sure they have access to a great education is a little easier to manage. Michigan is full of excellent schools and by choosing to live in a HomeFirst™ community, you’ll be able to have an affordable place to live to make that possible.
Our Meadow Creek and Riverbrook manufactured home communities are both located in New Haven, Michigan, not far from the beautiful Anchor Bay area of Lake St. Clair. These communities are in the New Haven Community Schools district and New Haven High School has a lot of really interesting programs available to help their students reach their full potential.
The “C” or Better Program
You definitely can’t say that New Haven High School doesn’t set the bar high for its students! Starting with the class of 2017, New Haven High School students are required to earn a 70% or higher in all their core educational classes, such as English, social studies, and various math and science classes. If a student earns a 69% or lower in those classes, they will have to repeat the course. The school’s reasoning for this is that if a student earns less than a 70% in a core educational class, they won’t have the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in related classes that come later or to score well on the ACT.
Advanced Placement Classes
Is your teenager looking for a way to get a little extra competitive edge when it comes to applying for college? Advanced placement classes are a great way to do just that! New Haven High School provides students with the opportunity to take AP classes like English Literature and Composition, U.S. History, World History, Biology, and Chemistry. Since many colleges look for students who have taken advanced placement classes and students who take advanced placement classes tend to be more successful in college, being able to take AP classes is definitely something worth considering.
Early College Program
Wouldn’t it be great if your teenager could earn a high school diploma and an Associate’s Degree at the same time? New Haven High School has partnered with Macomb Community College and Oakland University to create a completely unique Early College Program where students have the chance to do just that. If you teen sticks with the Early College program through all four years of high school, they will be able to graduate from New Haven High School with both a high school diploma and an Associate’s Degree. This way, your student wouldn’t have to wait two extra years to earn their Associate’s and it will be much less expensive.
