5 Things You Can Do at the Flat Rock Public Library
Are you looking to rent or buy a manufactured home in Flat Rock, MI? If so, we recommend attending one of our favorite spots: The Flat Rock Public Library.
Libraries are more than just books! The Flat Rock Public Library offers a wide range of services to the community, including access to computers and the Internet, educational resources, classes, activities for kids, and much, much more. Here are just a few of the great things you can do there.
Check out eBooks and Audio Books
Obviously, libraries are great places to find books, but more and more libraries are starting to go high tech and are now making eBooks available which can be read on devices such as Kindles, Nooks, and iPads. All you need is a device, a library card, and an Internet connection and you’ll be able to choose from their catalog of eBook titles. You’ll also be able to access audio books and movies to stream. Even if the library is closed, eBooks and audiobooks are available 24/7.
Learn How to Knit or Crochet
Always wanted to learn how to knit or crochet? Already know a few basic stitches, but want to learn more? Just drop by the activity room of the Flat Rock Public Library on Tuesdays at 1:00 PM or Saturdays at 12:00 PM for a knitting and crocheting class taught by Barbara Cooper. If you have any questions, please call Barbara at (734) 654-8946.
Get Discounted Admission to the Detroit Zoo
The Flat Rock Public Library is just one of several libraries in Southeastern Michigan that have teamed up with the Detroit Zoo to offer their patrons access to discounted admission, pre-paid vouchers for parking and food, and more through their Tickets & More program.
Learn About Local History
The Flat Rock Public Library has a lot of opportunities for you to explore the city’s history. On Wednesdays from 12:00-4:00 PM and Saturdays from 1:00-4:00 PM, volunteers from the Flat Rock Historical Society can be found in the library’s Local History Room. If you’re working on a research project, you may be able to arrange to spend time in the Local History Room outside of normal hours.
