3 Reasons Why You Should Rent a Manufactured Home Instead of an Apartment
Looking for a new home? There are certainly lots of options out there! You can buy a home, rent a home, buy a condo, or rent an apartment. Or you could rent a manufactured home instead! Renting a manufactured home in one of our HomeFirst™ communities has a lot of benefits over living in an apartment. Once you live in one of our manufactured homes, you’ll never want to go back to renting apartments!
Living in an apartment generally means you’ll have to learn how to make do with a very limited amount of storage space. Your apartment itself might not be very big and you might not have a lot of cupboards or closet space to work with. If you’re lucky, your apartment building might have storage lockers for residents to use. But when you rent a manufactured home instead, you’ll have so much more room to work with. HomeFirst™ communities accommodate manufactured homes up to 2,300 square feet in size!
Many manufactured homes have 3-4 bedrooms, while most apartments simply don’t. And even if you were able to find an apartment with that many bedrooms, it would likely cost a small fortune to rent every month. Not to mention that many rental homes you’ll find in HomeFirst™ communities have large walk-in closets and lots of cabinets and drawers in the kitchen. All homes in our communities also have storage sheds so you’ll have a place to keep things like tools, bikes, lawn mowers, and snow shovels.
Renting an apartment means you have to play by your landlord’s rules. If you want to make any changes to your apartment, you’ll have to get your landlord’s permission first. And even if you do get permission to make changes, you’ll probably have to undo your changes when you move out or risk losing your security deposit. You might not be allowed to have dogs or other pets in an apartment or have to pay an exorbitant pet deposit and extra rent each month. Some cities have ordinances prohibiting apartment residents from having grills on balconies and decks of apartment buildings. So if you like being able to invite a few friends over for some burgers, that could very well be out of the question.
At HomeFirst™, we give our residents who rent homes in our communities a lot more freedom. Make yourself at home! Go ahead and paint your walls any color you like and hang things on the walls! Although there are some dog breed restrictions, pets are very welcome in our communities and pet fees are very minimal. And if you want to invite your friends over for a barbeque, you’re welcome to do that!
When you live in an apartment, you’re going to be living wall-to-wall with your neighbors. When you’re living that close together, even a quiet neighbor can get annoying when you can hear everything they’re doing. It also means you’ll have to be extra mindful of the noise you make so you don’t end up annoying your neighbors. Why deal with all that when you don’t have to? Renting a home in a manufactured housing community means you’ll have space between your home and your neighbors so you won’t have to worry about being disturbed by overly-loud televisions or music or by a neighbor running their vacuum cleaner.
HomeFirst™ has manufactured homes available to rent in many communities located in some of Michigan’s most sought-after locations. In addition to being able to rent an affordable home, you’ll also be able to enjoy community amenities like swimming pools, fitness centers, picnic areas, playgrounds, athletic courts, and more!
