6 Ways to Enjoy August in Michigan

Summer is cruising along in Michigan, but the fun is only getting started! Throughout our great state this August are exciting events for people of all ages and interests. Here are some events that caught our eye this month. As always, information is courtesy of Michigan.org

1. Lansing JazzFest
Location: Lansing
Date: 8/1 – 8/2
Description: Lansing JazzFest is a two-day music festival filling the streets of historic Old Town with 20 hours of free music on three stages, activities for children, and wonderful food and crafts vendors for all.More info

 
2. How Bazaar
Location: Jackson
Date: 8/2 – 8/3
Description: How Bazaar is a street fair celebrating the best of art, wine, beer, food and live entertainment. This event will include a wide variety of activities, including a juried art fair, beer & wine tasting, Run or Dye 5K fun run, kids’ activities and live entertainment (indoors and outdoors). More Info.

3. St. Johns Mint Festival
Location: St. Johns
Date: 8/8 – 8/10
Description: Celebrate over 100 years of mint farming in Clinton County with arts & crafts, a flea market, food concessions, a parade, five sports tournaments, mint farm tours, free entertainment and new & old cars. A highlight of the festival is activities for kids including Kids World all weekend long and Kids Day on Sunday with exotic animals, games & contest—all for 25 cents each.More Info.

4. Ypsilanti Heritage Festival
Location: Ypsilanti
Date: 8/15 – 8/17
Description: Free community festival the third week of every August, featuring local and national arts and crafts, live music, local craft beer, entertainment and activities for kids and teens, and so much more! More Info.

5. Woodward Dream Cruise 2014
Location: Berkley
Date: 8/16
Description: Dig out your letter sweater and poodle skirt, throw on your blue suede shoes, slick back your hair and get ready to enjoy a day filled with classic cars and great entertainment. This is the world’s largest one-day celebration of car culture and attracts more than 1.5 million visitors and more than 50,000 muscle cars, street rods, custom, collector and special interest vehicles. More Info.

6. Northville Food Truck Festival

Location: Northville
Date: 8/23
Description: Enjoy a big variety of food trucks, beer garden, and music–all within walking distance to downtown Northville. Admission to the Food Truck Rally and Beer Garden is free; there will be a fee for all food and beverages. More Info.
