Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for all of life’s blessings, a time to take a few minutes and think about how much easier life is because of these blessings. No matter what you have, remember there is always someone out there with less. Most of us have more things to be thankful for than we can really count, but here are 5 things we can all remember to be thankful for this Thanksgiving:

Family

First and foremost, let us remember to be thankful for the most important people in our lives. Most of us head off to mom’s house for Thanksgiving dinner, but we forget that it’s not just the dinner that brings us there. Family. They are really the reason we come to the table. So, this Thanksgiving take a minute to let your sister know how much you appreciated the time she let you borrow her car after you totaled yours. Spend some time reminiscing about childhood fun with your cousin and give your mom and dad a big hug.

Friends

Whether you have one friend or a hundred friends, take a minute to be thankful for them. Our friends are the people who listen to our hopes, dreams, and fears. They are the ones who are there when we need a shoulder to cry on or just a fun night on the town. So, remember how lucky you are to have them in your life.

Employment

As strange as it sounds, we all need to remember to be thankful for our jobs. It doesn’t matter if you love or hate your job because without it the rest of this list wouldn’t exist. Are not currently employed? Then be thankful for your spouse’s job, your mom’s job, or the job of whomever it is that provides the income in your home.

Home

No matter where you live, be thankful you have a roof over your head, a bed in which to sleep, and clean clothes to wear. Not everyone is so lucky.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Most of us have a huge dinner to look forward to: a twenty pound bird with stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pies for dessert. Or maybe your family has steak and eggs for your Thanksgiving. If you’re alone this holiday, you might be enjoying macaroni and cheese from a box. It doesn’t matter. Be thankful to have a full belly.

These are just a few big things to stop and think about this holiday, but if you really think about it, we all have much more to be thankful for. Take some time this Thanksgiving to remember how good you’ve got it, and maybe spend some time doing something for someone who doesn’t have it so good. Or you could just spend some time thanking all the people who have made your life so great.

  4. Home

Do you live in a mansion? A split level in a nice neighborhood? A condo? A tiny apartment? A manufactured home? An RV? Someone else’s home? Be thankful there is a roof over your head, a bed to sleep in, and a shower to get clean in. Not everyone is so lucky.

  5. Thanksgiving dinner (and every dinner)
