If you thought soda cans and newspapers were the only things you can recycle, think again. Chances are there’s something in your garbage right now that can be saved from eternity in a landfill. Recycling is important for both the natural environment and for us. By doing your part, you can help us conserve our precious natural resources and make a positive impact in the world.

That said, not just anything can be recycled. It’s important to understand which items can be recycled, and which cannot.

Here are 10 “do’s” and “don’ts” with regard to recycling in your manufactured home.

Do Recycle

  1. Plastic and Paper Bags
  2. Metal and Aluminum Cans (Remember, you can recycle some cans in Michigan for 10 cents each!)
  3. Juice boxes, paper boxes and frozen food boxes
  4. Round dairy tubs
  5. Mail and magazines
  6. Pill bottles
  7. Phone books
  8. Washing Detergent Bottles
  9. Telephone Books
  10. Shopping Catalogs

Don’t Recycle

  1. Zip-lock bags
  2. Batteries
  3. Chip bags
  4. Light bulbs
  5. Plastic food boxes
  6. Foam take out containers
  7. Paper cups and plastic utensils
  8. CD plastic casings
  9. Pizza boxes
  10. Styrofoam
